The McGill Herbivore Society has written an open letter to McGill asking that the University adopt a DefaultVeg plan: this would involve the University transitioning to plant-based menus while providing the possibility to opt-in to animal food products.

(Anyone who is a member of the McGill student body, faculty, staff, alumni or broader university community is invited to participate)
“The University of British Columbia in 2019 accomplished the goal of 47% of their total entrees in residence dining being plant-based, demonstrating that large-scale changes can be done at such vast institutions. Stanford University’s residence dining menus are currently 80% vegetarian and >50% plant-based… the University of Ottawa, University of Waterloo, and McMaster University have launched 100% plant-based dining concepts on their campuses and the University of Winnipeg opened their first ever 100% plant-based dining hall in September 2020.”
