Join the Animal Advocacy / Défense Animale Club for a brief introduction to Animal Law in Canada and the UK! This presentation is happening tomorrow, Tuesday 12 January 2021 10:00-11:00 am ET. It is being given as part of first-year McGill law students’ integration week, and we are thrilled to have been asked to participate! The event is also open to anyone who would like to come.
During the session, we will discuss the history of animal welfare law in Canada and the UK. Nous explorerons aussi le statut juridique des animaux au Canada.
Par la suite, nous présenterons des segments du film documentaire Unlocking the Cage (2016). Le film suit l’avocat renommé Steven Wise et son équipe dans leurs efforts de révolutionner la loi en transformant le statut légal des chimpanzés de celui d’un bien à celui d’une personne.
